Tourism is one of the major
bonuses of the Cat Queen model. Every royal palace (you can see pictures of 18
of them here: source)
would be made available for the public to enjoy, creating the kind of tourism
boost that France enjoys. The Palace of Versailles, for example, receives over
7 and a half million visitors every year, whilst Buckingham Palace, England’s
closest equivalent, ranks well outside the international top 10, admitting under 600,000 (source
and source).
Access to these fantastic sites is
what attracts tourists and the Cat Queen model allows this. You keep the ‘heritage,
pageantry and the contemporary’ (whatever that means) (source)
whilst also allowing citizens and visitors to do what they actually want to do.
And the cat is likely to meet people most days, as opposed to around 125 days
of ‘engagements’ done by the current monarch (source).
For reference, most people in the UK work 1,676 hours a year (source)
which would be 209.5 days if we assumed 8 hour shifts. Of course, we wouldn’t
expect this much from a cat, just more than we get from the current monarch
would be fine.
Tourism receives the benefits of
people actually being able to see these wonderful buildings and as well as any
benefit that a monarchy may offer, and potentially even more. Who doesn’t want
to see the most powerful cat in the world? If you want proof that cat tourism works check these out link.
In the comments section below
write down which royal palace you’d like to visit and why! Thanks for reading.
